Dental-Hygiene

Having beautiful, healthy teeth is essential for your well-being. Our individual programmes for maintaining oral health will help you keep your teeth and gums healthy in the long term.

1. Oral health programme for adults

First, we perform two screening tests to determine the state of your teeth and implants and the degree of inflammation of your gums.

The consultation and recommendations for preventing cavities and periodontitis are based on your individual screening outcomes.

We will introduce you to the necessary tools and will practice proper tooth brushing techniques with you. Your teeth will then be professionally cleaned to gently remove calculus deposits, bacterial plaque, and unattractive stains. We use very gentle powder jet devices (air polishing) for this purpose.

The subsequent application of fluoride on the smooth surfaces seals the polished enamel and makes the teeth significantly more resistant to cavities.

It is very important that you follow our oral hygiene recommendations at home, which is why we will provide you with a personalized summary printout at the end of your visit.

2. Individual preventive dental care for children and adolescents

The teeth of the young patient are stained with a blue/pink 2-step dye (with 2Tone disclosing agent), which allows us to distinguish fresh bacterial plaque from old plaque and well brushed tooth surfaces. The results are demonstrated and documented with a small digital camera.

We will practice cleaning the teeth together so that we can give your child a guideline to take home.

When all teeth are perfectly clean, all smooth surfaces are given a topical fluoride treatment to protect them from decay. The smooth feeling on the teeth lasts for weeks.

A fissure sealant procedure can be performed on all permanent molars. The fine grooves of the chewing surfaces are filled with a tooth-coloured, transparent coating to avoid the depositing of cavity-causing plaque.

3. Follow-up for patients with periodontitis

In order to control a periodontal disease in the long term and to prevent the inflammation from reoccurring, we urge that you come in for a competent professional follow-up.

Periodontics is one of the practice’s specialities. As part of our adult oral health programme, we regularly assess the condition of the gums and check for inflamed gum pockets. They are freed from bacterial biofilm by means of delicate instruments to create a healthy, inflammation-free environment under the gum line and to prevent any additional bone resorption.
